Michael’s Story

Posted by with - in Read More →

At 8 years old, Michael was really struggling in school. In fact, he hated to do his schoolwork. Michael was also getting into trouble for bad behavior: not following directions, inability to sit still and failing to get his work done promptly. Michael was beginning to be aware of his struggles and was unwilling to read out loud because he knew he’d make many, many mistakes. After a few months at The Brain Gym, Michael’s family is noticing a significant improvement. The boy who could not be left alone at his desk is now working independently. And, he is reading! His mother, Karen, a homeschooling mom of seven kids, is relieved.

Michael is able to do most of his work on his own. He never did that before! He used to take lots of breaks during school time and it took us up to 4 hours to complete. Now he gets it done in about an hour,” says Karen.

What’s more, Michael’s behavior has improved significantly. When given directions or tasks around the house, Michael no longer gets frustrated and gives up. Instead, he is willing to help do chores and feels so good about himself when he completes his jobs. Karen is thrilled, “Last week, Michael said that he enjoys school now. Oh, what a pleasure it is to teach someone who enjoys school! We are so thankful that we found The Brain Gym.”

Karina’s Story

Posted by with - in Read More →

For too many years, I watched my youngest child, Karina, struggle with school. We tried hard to help Karina. Sometimes through carefully planned “homework time” and an organized work space, sometimes through discipline, sometimes through frustration and tears: hers and ours. Too often she gave up, believing the lie she secretly told herself: “I’m not smart.”

I had heard about The Brain Gym for a few years, even suggesting it to a friend whose son struggled with school. So, the training began.  It was easy at first, but the work soon became more challenging.  Karina was mentally exhausted after her Brain Gym sessions…but she was progressing. While we were warned not to expect miracles…I was waiting to see some improvement.  I kept asking Karina if she thought things were getting better, and the answer was always “I don’t know.”  But everything changed one day toward the end of her Brain Gym sessions.

She is now a high school graduate on her way to college.  She still doesn’t love school…but she isn’t afraid of it anymore either.

My only regret is that we didn’t get her to The Brain Gym sooner.  Brain training may sound funny…but I’m telling you…it works.  When the brain works better, studying becomes much easier.  Karina is proof of that.

Sam’s Story

Posted by with - in Read More →

My 10 year-old, Sam, had trouble reading and could not sit still long enough to pay attention in class. He was in the Title I reading program, and his self esteem was very low because of it. To compensate for this, he became the class clown and avoided his homework. After just 6 months with The Brain Gym, Sam is now a confident learner. He is out of Title I and actually enjoys reading! Sam’s confidence is way up and I no longer have to spend hours every night on his homework with him.

College now a possibility…

College is Now Possible:

The Brain Gym has opened up doors for my daughter that I thought were closed forever. Before doing the program she planned on attending a technical school to avoid four years of college. After her time at The Brain Gym, she has confidence and has learned techniques to help her move through areas of struggle. She now plans on attending college, possibly for teaching! We were very pleased with the program and with our trainer’s ability to implement it.”

Jennifer’s Story

Jennifer’s Story

As a mother of 5, I happily helped 4 of my children succeed in school. But with Jennifer, it was different. She was a diligent student, but continuously struggled in school, especially with reading. It was heartbreaking to see how much harder homework was for her than for her twin brother, who was un-phased by things that were so very difficult for Jennifer. The school was very willing to help, but their programs just didn’t do the trick for my daughter, and she fought to make decent grades, year after year. Finally, we found The Brain Gym. After the six-month program, my daughter is a completely different learner! She reads for fun and is out of the Title I Reading Program at school! She now works independently, and although she still receives extra help for math, the extra help actually helps now!

Aneesa’s Story

Posted by with - in Read More →

I am confident in saying that if it hadn’t been for The Brain Gym, my beautiful, smart daughter would not be reading today. I am convinced that there is no way that the school or I (also an educator) could have put together a more thorough program for learning to read. It is very clear to me that she does have reading difficulties and they would have been insurmountable in an educational setting. Because of The Brain Gym, Aneesa is able to keep up in school and has received exemplary comments from her teachers. I encourage all parents whose children have diagnosed or undiagnosed reading challenges to try The Brain Gym. The investment in your child’s future is one that will last a lifetime.

Nicholas’ Story

Posted by with - in Read More →

I struggled all the way through elementary and high school.  In spite of loads of help, I could barely read. I desperately wanted to get good grades, so I studied hard, but I couldn’t remember the information for tests; I processed information slowly and struggled to pay attention in class.  I couldn’t remember my math facts and really had to think – even just to add 1 to a number!  Not only were my grades super low, but I felt like I was learning nothing, that I wasn’t very smart…I felt like a huge failure. I started skipping more classes than I attended, and almost didn’t graduate from high school.

I tried to go to community college, but I couldn’t pass the entrance exams in reading and math.  What kind of hope for a good future was there for a guy like me?  When I was 21-years-old, my mom found The Brain Gym and basically made me go. I had gone to other learning centers in the past and they hadn’t helped, so I thought this would be yet another failure.  I was so wrong!

The Brain Gym worked on all of my weaknesses and it wasn’t long before I began to notice a huge difference.  At last I could function as an independent adult: I began remembering driving directions, remembering phone numbers long enough to get them written down, and remembering appointments on my own.  I finally learned how to read. I mean really, really read! I can even read and listen to music at the same time now and still remember and understand what I’ve read.  I can spell well enough to use text messaging (imagine a teenager unable to text because of poor spelling—yup, that was me, but not anymore).

Now I work in the heating and air conditioning industry because I want to, not because I feel stuck! I wish I had found The Brain Gym sooner!  Basically, my whole life has changed…I’m a completely different person!”
